I found this great list—“10 Great Books for (Traumatizing) Children”– on Cracked and knew I had to share it. The book that inspired the list, Love You Forever, brought about images of Joan Crawford and of Hitchcock’s Psycho.

Of course, Edward Gorey made the list. Though I don’t consider him a children’s author, really, I would have been sad if he wasn’t on there. I discovered him and bought only two of his books before he died. They all then skyrocketed in price and my “collecting” of Edward Gorey books stopped in its tracks.

Just to be clear, I am definitely not recommending that you buy your children these books. They have the best intentions, but…well, you know how that sometimes works out.
