I bought this sweet board book for Connal for Christmas. Snyder is both the author and illustrator and she created a wonderful book. In the board book world, there are some stars, like Sandra Boynton, but there’s also a lot of boring, repetitive junk. Haiku Baby is a worthy addition to your little one’s library. The illustrations are simple and gorgeous. The haiku’s are beautifully written. Haiku Baby was selected as a Cooperative Children’s Book Center Choices 2009 title.

I think even older kids would enjoy this book and wish it was available in hardcover. Kids learning about poetry for the first time would enjoy the lovely imagery and compassion evident in these few pieces.

Right now this is among the half a dozen books that Connal opens with a screech and giggle. I think that translates to A+.
