I’ve been away for a little while. Things around here have been tough. On April 10, just a few months before her 6th birthday, my dog Aislinn passed away suddenly. She developed a neurological deficit as a young puppy that left her with a paralyzed front limb. She was a happy, loving girl. My first pet as a grown up, she was my first “baby” and I miss her terribly. Just a few days later, my dad called to tell me his dog, Sporty, had passed away. We got Sporty when I was 16.
This week we also said goodbye to some dear friends who are PCSing to Alaska and will be saying goodbye to more friends (headed the same way) next week.
Amid all my bumming, we are looking forward to summer leave to head down to FL and visit my parents. I can’t wait for Connal to see his nana and papa and I’m excited to see what he thinks of the pool this year. We’re hoping to be there at the same time my brother is visiting because we haven’t seen him since last summer either.
Plus, Connal got to learn about hunting for (empty) Easter Eggs this year. Next year, he’ll be a pro (and there will prizes inside).
I’m reading The Gathering of Elders by Wesli Court and really enjoying it. I can’t wait to review it and hope that all of you will pick up a copy and check it out.
That’s all my catching up and unloading for now. I hope that good luck is smiling on all of you. (Now for a totally unrelated, but hilarious picture of my kid.)
