Still Alive & Reading

As you may have noticed, Reading is Sexy has not been atop my list of priorities lately. I have been reading and I have been thinking of you, though. I finished The Joy of Pregnancy last week and actually bought (for $1 at a yard sale) Belly Laughs. So far, Belly Laughs is kind of annoying, but at most it will only take up three hours or so of my life. More on that later.
I have reviews planned for quite a few books and am working to spread them out. The two I mentioned above plus, On Foot, In Flames, and You Know You’re a Writer When….
I mentioned in my last post that my birthday had just passed, but I hadn’t gotten my gifts yet. My husband bought me The Best Body Pillow EVER and Chic & Simple Sewing: Skirts, Dresses, Tops, and Jackets for the Modern Seamstress. The book includes full size patterns for adorable clothes that I will definitely make after I have the baby. My brother completely surprised me by sending me Taking Flight: Inspiration And Techniques To Give Your Creative Spirit Wings and The Collected Poems of Theodore Roethke. Roethke is my favorite poet of all time, in case you were wondering. I was psyched to get that collection. It’s definitely a book I will never give up. The Taking Flight book struck me as sort of scrapbooking-related (which I could care less about), but it did explain some techniques for collage that I really want to learn. It’s also full of inspiring anecdotes and gorgeous creations.
In time, I’ll review all of those books, too. I’m sort of hording my craft-related books for a page or maybe a super long post. How do you think reviews of craft books would fit into this blog? Should I post them here at all? What did you do last week? Leave me a comment, tweet or email. I’d love to hear from you!
