The third book from Concord Free Press is available tonight at midnight. They’re once again giving away 2,500 free copies via the website and their network of indie booksellers. Get the book, read it, make a donation and post it on CFPs website, then pass the book along.
The Next Queen of Heaven was written by Gregory Maguire, author of Wicked. Maguire describes the book, “In a flyspeck upstate NY town at the end of the second millennium, something dangerous is coming—either Y2K, salvation, or murder. Following an accident in a church basement, a fundamentalist family is knocked off its fundaments while the choir director in the Catholic church next door schemes to escape both his sorry past and his sorrier future. “

Concord also has launched an exciting project called IOU. IOU is all about writing about money. “In the spring of 2010, the Concord Free Press will publish IOU, a multi-genre collection of new writing about money—earned and spent, given and taken, remembered and imagined, stolen and gifted.” They’re looking for work in multiple genres, so if you’re a writer, check it out.
