Review: Give + Take — Stona Fitch
Posted on | February 3, 2009 | 4 Comments
Give+Take is the first novel published and “sold” for free by Concord Free Press. I finally finished reading it. I intended to review the story, but I’m going to go about this in a different way than I usually do.
Give+Take is about a jazz pianist named Ross Clifton. Ross is an extraordinary talent for playing jazz…and theft. He spends his time playing in piano bars across the US and finding lonely women to seduce and rob. He also steals BMWs when diamonds are scarce. Ross once had everything: a fabulous apartment, an incredible piano, a girlfriend and even a cat. He had all the things people strive to gain. He was miserable. He began to live the role of a modern day Robin Hood. But how much money helps a person? Does it really help? What makes a person’s life worth living? Where is the line between right and wrong?
Give+Take challenges the notion that bigger and better is the point to living. It is a interesting ride through a piece of Ross Clifton’s life that changed him forever…and just might change yours, too.
The novel is a quick read. It’s not too wordy or overly descriptive, but Stona Fitch caresses the English languages like Ross tickling the ivories. It’s a captivating novel that left me feeling inspired and thoughtful.

Now that I’ve reported my donation (book #993 by the way), it’s time to pass this book on. Instead of handing it over to a random person, which I think would be awesome, I’m going to give it to one of you! Here’s the deal:
Comment this post with what you think about the book/publishers idea, this pay it forward kind of thing. Make sure that there is a way to contact you in your comment (or by putting your email address in the field while commenting, this will keep it private).
I will select a winner Sunday February 22th using the number generator at Random.org. Good luck.

saw your tweet about this giveaway idea. i'm SUCH a sucker for books! as if i don't have enough
the combination of robin hood and jazz is right up my alley. reminds me a bit of, oh, who is it again – the B&E guy who also has a used book store? oh, right, lawrence block's "the thief who …" series. love it.
