Speed Reading II

I posted a while back about my curiosity surrounding speed reading. I’ve often thought about buying a book or program to try out and see if it works. I finally decided to buy Breakthrough Rapid Reading.

The idea that you can teach yourself to read more efficiently makes perfect sense. Tripling your reading time while improving comprehension — that, I’m not too sure about. I’ve read the introduction to the book, which sounds so much like a sales pitch that I was irritated by reading it. It’s like Peter Kump was really trying to convince me that reading this book and doing the exercise really is worth my time.
So this week, time permitting, I’ll be reading this book and doing the exercises each day. I’ll post from time to time to let you know how I’m progressing and what I think as I go along. I’m sure I’ll at least improve my attentiveness toward reading (as much as a brain-scattered new mom can, anyway).

Thanks for the great article, it helps direct people where they should go to succeed with speed reading. I have been a speed reader for a few years and I actually increased my speed the most while I was using the eyeQ program, and I didn’t sacrifice my comprehension level either. I recommend this program to every one I know that is struggling with their reading skills or would like to improve their reading speed. They have a 30-day trial I would recommend trying.
