Alumni Bookshelf

Every so often I receive a magazine from my college. It’s one of those magazines they send to alumni, updating us on the goings on at Oswego State and proudly displaying the projects that donations from alumni have supported. When I flipped through the last issue I found a section called, “Alumni Bookshelf.” As a graduate of the fairly new English Writing Arts program, I was psyched to see a page dedicated to new books from alumni.

Recommended Resource: This program at Oswego State obviously isn’t the only writing program available; if you’re interested, search online for other universities offering writing degrees.

These are books recently published by Oswego State alumni/professors. Looking at their class years, I feel less terrible about the fact that I haven’t published a book yet. In the grand scheme of writers, 26 is pretty young I suppose.

Wonderful Sunday

I spent my day catching up on reading blogs (my Google Reader has been guilt tripping me). I did some sewing. I even read some of Pieces a short story collection with an introduction by Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower). So far, I’m enjoying it. I picked it up on a whim because Perks is one of my favorite books of all time. I didn’t even realize until I started reading it that it’s a collection of short stories. That gives you a little insight into the way I choose books sometimes. Overall, it’s been a wonderful Sunday.

While catching up with my harping G Reader, I came across “March of the Kindle,” an interesting article on the Economist. My Kindle Jury is still out, but I found the articles point about newspapers to be an interesting one, especially now that some major papers are offering their dailys online for free, like the New York Times.

My girls spent their Sunday like this:
